Free Our Data: the blog

A Guardian Technology campaign for free public access to data about the UK and its citizens

Got something to say? Get in touch; and suggest some forum software

We’ve been asked how one can get in touch. It’s pretty simple: email charles.arthur@gmail.com (I’ll give that rather than my Guardian email simply because I have better spam-filtering and mail-organising options on the Gmail address).
If you’ve got something that needs saying, we’re always interested. I note that some people think forums, rather than a blog, would be a better organisational structure; that’s probably true. If anyone wants to suggest some PHP/MySQL-based forum software, I’m all ears. “Free” is a good price too..

there are loads of Open Source CRM systems around

    try

    http://www.opensourcecms.com/

Lists loads, along with demo sites where you can go in as Admins and play – they re-set the site every 30 minutes.

phpNuke is used well in a crucial site for this campaign – http://www.datastandard.co.uk/

You should try drupal (drupal.org). It’s open source, php/mysql. Easy and powerful. If you contact me, I’d be willing to set you up with someone to help with technical issues.

You really need to tidy up your home page – it doesn’t even have a link to the Crown Jewels article. I have been giving colleagues the url of that Guardian article as I think it is a much better summary of the main arguments than this site – but that page doesn’t have a link to this site! You really need to have a more informative home page if you hope to rally support…
